The company is two years old. The round it looks after isn't.
Before AJ4, Aaron worked for Chris Rix Electrical — a firm that had been serving Newport, Saffron Walden and Bishop's Stortford for over forty years. When Rix stopped general electrical contracting, Aaron set AJ4 Electrical Ltd up in July 2023 and carried on looking after a good part of that customer book: the same farms, the same village houses, the same shops.
So the honest version is this. The limited company is new, and you can read its whole record on Companies House in half a minute. What isn't new is the work itself, or the fact that the people ringing this number are largely the ones who were ringing the old one — which is a different sort of reference from a page of five-star badges.

Agricultural work isn't a sideline
Control panels for grain handling systems, machinery breakdowns, three-phase in barns and drying floors. Most domestic electricians will politely decline a farm call in October. It's a proper part of what we do, and it's why the van carries what it carries.

We build and install control panels for grain handling systems, get to machinery breakdowns when a drier or a conveyor stops mid-harvest, and run three-phase into barns and workshops. Farm installations get washed down, chewed and left running for weeks — which changes nearly every decision about where a fitting goes.

Where you actually stop, which side the socket is on, whether the supply can carry 7kW alongside the oven, and how the earthing is satisfied outdoors. Our own site shows us as an approved myenergi installer, so zappi units are familiar ground — but we'll fit whatever suits you.

Grain handling, when it has to run
Control panels for grain handling systems, drying floors and conveyors — and the breakdown calls that come with them. A farm that stops in October doesn't want an appointment next Tuesday.

Landlords, shops & farms
EICR, PAT test or certificate?
Three different things that get confused daily. An EICR inspects the fixed wiring and codes what it finds. PAT testing covers the things that plug in — a visual inspection and an instrument test. A certificate is what you should get after new work, and never receiving one means there's no record it happened. We do all three, and we won't code a C3 as a C2 to sell you remedial work.

A look at the job, then a free estimate
No job too big or small, and the estimate costs nothing. For anything past a small repair we'd rather see it — a farm panel, a rewire or a charger position are all decided by things you can't judge down a phone.

The work, tested, certified and written up
Circuits tested, the installation certified and notified where it needs to be, the board labelled, and the paperwork sent through rather than promised. Then we clear up after ourselves, which shouldn't be a selling point but apparently is.

We're at Sewards End, a couple of minutes east of Saffron Walden, which puts Cambridge to the north, Bishop's Stortford to the south and a great many villages, farms and barn conversions in between. Agricultural and social-housing contracts take us further across the South East. If you're not sure you're in range, ask — the answer is usually yes.
