Domestic Electrics
Everything a house needs — repairs, extra circuits, consumer units, testing and certification.
The bread and butter: sockets and lighting where you actually want them, extra circuits for the home office or the garden room, a consumer unit that has RCBO protection rather than a row of rewireable fuses, fault finding when something trips and nobody knows why, and testing and certification at the end of it. We cover Saffron Walden, Cambridge, Bishop's Stortford and the villages around them, and a good share of the calls come from houses the same electrician has been going to for years.

Agricultural Electrics
Control panels for grain handling systems, machinery breakdowns and three-phase in barns.
A proper speciality rather than an occasional favour. We build and install control panels for grain handling systems, get to machinery breakdowns when a drier or a conveyor has stopped in the middle of harvest, run three-phase supplies into barns and workshops, and light yards so a tractor can be reversed into a shed in December. Farm installations get washed down, chewed, knocked and left running for weeks — which changes almost every decision about where a fitting goes and how the cable enters it.

EV Car Charger Installation
Home and farm chargers planned properly, and we'll work with whichever brand suits you.
We help plan and install electric car charging points — and we're shown as an approved myenergi installer on our own site, which means zappi units are familiar territory, but we'll fit any brand you'd rather have. Planning matters more than people expect: which side of the car the socket is on, how far the cable has to reach across a gravel drive, whether the incoming supply can carry a 7kW load alongside the oven and the shower, how the earthing arrangement is satisfied outdoors, and whether you want it diverting surplus solar instead of exporting it.

PAT Testing
A visual inspection and an instrument test — not a sticker slapped on a kettle.
A full PAT test is two things: a proper visual inspection, and an in-depth check with specialist portable appliance testing equipment. The visual half finds most of the genuine faults — a cracked plug, a cable pulled out of its gland, a repair somebody did with tape. The instrument half proves the rest. We test for offices, shops, village halls, holiday lets and landlords across Saffron Walden, Cambridge and Bishop's Stortford, and you get a register of what was tested and what failed rather than a drawer of stickers.

Commercial Electrics
Retail refits, energy-saving lighting, inspection and testing of what's already there.
Energy-saving lighting installations, refitting of retail premises, and inspection and testing of the existing installation — plus PAT testing of the appliances while we're there. Shops are mostly a scheduling problem as much as an electrical one: the work has to happen around trading hours, and the bit that can't be finished tonight has to be safe and presentable by nine tomorrow. We'd rather phase a job honestly than promise a weekend that doesn't exist.

New Homes
Design to completion on a new build, working to the builder's programme.
Electrics for new builds and extensions, from the design stage through to completion. The earlier we're involved the cheaper every decision is: socket positions, lighting circuits, switching that makes sense when you walk in with your arms full, data and outside power run at first fix instead of chased in afterwards, and the supply sized for what the house will eventually hold rather than what's on the plan today. We work to the builder's programme rather than against it.

Electrical contracts for local authorities and housing associations across the South East.
We take on electrical contracts for local authorities and housing associations across the South East — void property works, periodic inspection and testing, consumer unit replacements, remedial work off the back of a condition report, and repairs in occupied homes. Occupied-property work is its own discipline: appointment slots that are kept, dust sheets that go down, and a tenant who gets told what's happening in their own home before it starts.
